FAQ
Common questions
What is a public adjuster?
A public adjuster is licensed by the state to represent the policyholder on a property insurance claim. The insurance company's adjuster works for the insurer; a public adjuster works for you.
Can you adjust my claim and replace my roof?
Not always. Some states, including Illinois, restrict one company from acting as the public adjuster and the contractor on the same claim. We will offer whichever service is allowed and makes sense for you, and explain why.
Do you work on commercial properties?
Yes. Along with homes, we work on business, multi-unit and other commercial properties, including storm damage on low-slope / flat and pitched roofs. As with homes, public adjusting and roofing are offered as separate services, and on a given claim we may only be able to provide one of them.
What is a supplement?
A supplement is a request to the insurance company to add items that were left out of, or underestimated in, the original claim estimate. Common examples are code-required items, drip edge, ice & water shield, ventilation, steep or high-roof charges, overhead & profit, or damage that only becomes visible once the old roof is torn off. We back each request with photos, measurements and a line-item explanation. The insurer makes the final decision on what it approves.
How we handle a supplement depends on whether we are your public adjuster or your roofing contractor on that claim, since those are separate services.
Which areas do you serve?
Illinois and Wisconsin.
Do I need to file a claim to hire you as my roofer?
No. Roofing work can be done with or without an insurance claim.
